Theory and Application in Film

I'm thinking of switching into Theory and Application in Film, but was wondering how other people have liked it. I read the course description and it sounds a bit basic, but at the same time it looks like it gives you a great chance to create without too many restrictions. I've emailed Professor Chaney to ask him a bit more. He's out of town at the moment (and I hear this class doesn't start until next week) so in case he is too busy to respond before drop/add week, would anyone here like to help me out a little?
Thanks :)
Thanks :)

OK.... so, Randall for Writing Fundamentals for Screen and Stage OR Short Story with Williams???
I have Williams right now. He seems a little too close minded for my tastes in terms of writing style. I can understand where he's coming from in terms of not wanting to pigeonhole yourself into one style and failing to focus on the actual plot.... etc, but the way that he speaks about certain genres makes me wary. I don't typically write fantasy, but I don't want to be hated if I try.
I've written plays before and I want to get better. Do you learn in Randall's class? Does he give you good exercises that help inspire you? I hardcore need some inspiration.
